Privacy Policy

๐ No data collection ยท Everything runs locallyWe don't collect your data. Color & Design Toolkit has no analytics, no tracking, no accounts and no servers. Everything the extension does happens locally, on your device โ nothing about you or the pages you visit is ever sent anywhere.
Color & Design Toolkit is a browser extension that lets you pick colors, extract palettes, build gradients, identify fonts, and inspect the CSS of any web page. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly how it handles information.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal information or browsing data. There are no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and the extension does not communicate with any external server to operate.
How the extension works
When you activate a tool โ for example the eyedropper, the palette scan, the font finder or the element inspector โ the extension reads the content of the page you are currently viewing (such as its colors, fonts, spacing, CSS and images) and, for the zoomed-loupe eyedropper, captures an image of the visible tab. This is done entirely on your device so the results can be shown to you in the extension's popup. This information is processed in the moment to render what you asked for and is not uploaded, logged or transmitted anywhere.
What is stored, and where
The only data the extension keeps is the work you create and your own preferences โ your recently picked colors, saved palettes, inspection history, and settings (theme, default formats, and so on). This is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage (chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB). It never leaves your device, is not synced to us, and you can erase it at any time from the extension's Settings โ Clear history / Reset everything. Uninstalling the extension also removes it.
Permissions, and why they're needed
Each permission the extension requests is used solely to provide the features above โ only on the tab you are actively viewing, and only when you start a tool:
- Active tab & host accessTo read the styles of the page you choose to inspect (colors, fonts, spacing, CSS, assets) and capture the visible tab for the loupe eyedropper. A color and CSS inspector has to be able to run on any site you visit, so it isn't limited to specific domains.
- ScriptingTo load the inspection tools into the current page on demand when you start one โ nothing runs until you ask for it.
- Storage & unlimited storageTo save your settings, recent colors, palettes and history locally on your device (the history is unlimited, which can exceed the default storage quota).
- ClipboardTo copy a value โ a color, CSS snippet or exported palette โ when you click a copy button.
- DownloadsTo save a file to your computer when you export a palette or gradient, or download an image, icon or SVG from a page.
External links
The extension may show optional links to third-party websites โ for example a font's specimen page on Google Fonts, or a Ko-fi page to support development. These open only if you click them, and once you leave, those sites' own privacy policies apply. The extension does not load code or content from them into your browser.
Children's privacy
Color & Design Toolkit is a general-purpose tool for designers and developers. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will always be available at this same URL, with a revised "Last updated" date above.
